Honest, Safe Injectables

Refining Room was born out of the need to close the gap within the industry of knowledgeable creators of a natural aesthetic.

I find myself feeling like a possum 'caught in headlights' when I see work that claims to be 'natural' but is instead frozen and overfilled with often, misplaced product.
Yes, we have all seen those fish lips, the trout pouts and emotionless faces... of people who have been subjected to such obvious, tell-tale treatments, everything I despise. Shudder!

I believe the key to great looking injectables, are the ones that cannot be obviously detected. Injectables should enhance the natural, allowing to world to see the you that YOU want to present! While I am driven to see positive results, a natural looking face will eclipse any treatment decision made together, every time.
The mantra I choose to follow, is natural and inconspicuous and NOT social trends.

My Story

Here's a quick snippet of my backstory, embarking on this life venture as it stands a wife, a mother of two, an experienced Cosmetic Nurse and now, the creator of 'Refining Room'.

Rewinding over half a decade, I found myself plunged into the Aesthetics world after working in the public health system. For a season, I worked in acute mental health as a ‘Psychiatric Assistant’ while I completed a Bachelor of Nursing. It was a definite eye opener and led to my first graduate position of working in a demanding role on a General Surgical ward at Middlemore Hospital.
After two years, I decided I wanted to take my nursing skill set in a new direction, it was time for a change. I found myself at a crossroad, to either transfer to ED or pursue something completely different.

Without knowing much about the world of being a Cosmedicine Nurse Injector, I took the initiative and slid into the Facebook messages of Dr Catherine Stone, Director of the Face Place (many know her as Cat).

She graciously took time out of her busy work schedule and took me out to lunch to discuss my growing curiosity. It was during this conversation, that Cat offered me the dream opportunity to volunteer a week of work experience in between shifts at the hospital, to gauge if this was the career path for me. The week, turned into six months, I fell in love. When a job placement became available at the clinic, I applied with fingers and toes crossed. Dr Cat had obviously observed my dedication, drive and the artistic eye in my work. As they say, "the rest is history."

So here we are six years on. A lifestyle change landed me in the South Island with my husband and young family, and this meant leaving my cherished role at The Face Place as the ‘Nursing Team Leader’. But with all the transition in play, in turn, it has led to further opportunities, as I now am one of the few New Zealand ‘Nurse Trainers for Teoxane’ I continue to assist in 'Vampire Academy' and 'Hyalase Workshops and of course, starting my own wee clinic, the ‘Refining Room’.

I believe I am a trusted injector and hold the respect of my clients, because of the incredibly experienced injectors and Cosmedicine mentors that I have had the privilege to work with. I have deep gratitude for those that have taken the time to sow and nurture my own execution of injectables and the pursuit of excellence in the procedures that I perform. I can hands down, categorically state, that I have been taught by the 'very best' the New Zealand industry has to offer, something I do recognize to be a rarity to obtain in this field of training. How lucky am I? I can’t wait to see what this next chapter holds!
