Botox

At Refining Room we use the brand Botox®. It is a safe medication having been used in the cosmetic world for close to 30 years. Cosmetically it is used to treat the muscles in the face that are responsible for fine lines and wrinkles.
Botox® is placed into specific muscles to either prevent a line from being created or deepening. With a few tiny injections into the belly of the muscle, we can reduce the amount of activity the muscle has. To achieve a natural looking result, great care is taken in assessing the muscle strength, selecting the appropriate dose, and lastly, placing it into the correct place.
Commonly treated areas are the frown line, or ‘grumpy lines’, the forehead ‘worry lines' and the smiley ‘crow’s feet’ around the eyes (these are 'happy lines', so it is important to dial down the movement, not remove it).
Refining Room offers injectable treatments that are considered 'off-label indications' of a prescription medicine. In line with being a best-practice clinic, these treatments are safe but cannot be 'advertised' under Medical Council rules. Please feel free to ask about this, as many of these 'off-label' treatments are well known and widely practiced, and will be covered in the Initial Consultation.
Botox® is quick and easy procedure with no real downtime required. A lot of clients schedule their repeat treatments during a lunch break. There may be a mild bump or swelling, which tends to settle over 10 minutes.
Unlike dermal fillers where the result is instant, Botox® usually take 3-4 days to start working and 2 weeks to see the end result. After the 2 weeks, we offer a complimentary follow up to look over the before and after photos.
Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating outside of the normal needs of the body
Botox® has a near100% success rate for treating excessive sweating. Underarms are the most commonly treated area but many of our patients suffer from excessive sweating in areas such as hands, feet, back etc.
